My children's experience at Strong Wings can be described in one word: Childhood. The adventures, the life lessons, the mud and dirt, the campouts, the knowledge of Nantucket Island that goes beyond any map or tour guide, the relationships with counselors and campers, the sense of independence and adventure, the sling shot, the beaches and secret spots, the sense of self and self-reliance developed and nourished, the longing for camp throughout the year and the bond that they have to this place; it is all a part of their being and their person. This is part of their self-made family and part of their hearts that will grow but never go away and because of that, SW will always hold a special place in my heart too.

Strong Wings has helped to shape my son into the kind, compassionate, adventurous, environmentally conscious young man he is today. From his initial experience as a Young Explorer to wakeboarding, stand-up paddle boarding, completing the “East to West” and “60 mile” challenges as a Champion, Strong Wings has always been the highlight of his summer, and will remain among his fondest lifetime memories. The counselors and staff are among the most creative, energetic, caring and safety-conscious people he’s ever encountered. Heartfelt thanks to Chris, Claire and the rest of the staff and campers for an overwhelmingly positive experience – if only summer could last forever!!!!
